African Grey PArrots for sale
Written by Dana
Two 9 months old Congo/African Grey parrots with their large main cage, medium sized bedtime cage, and a large play stand. They are very smart! They have started talking a few words and phrases already, and loves attention and being out of their cages. Also included are lots of toys and a floor standing Full Spectrum UV light with brand new bulb. Their diet is mostly pellets, but I also give them some cooked food and vegetables mostly in the morning and evening. They are wonderful birds that loves to play and can be rather comical. They also love to be held and cuddled for about 30 minutes before their bedtime. They are all vaccinated and we have already registered them. We need caring and loving people to buy. You must have the attention to give these birds.

Written by Sparky and Feebie
I'm the man of the house so it's my job to find a new home for Feebs and me.  We may have to be rehomed separately and we are so looking forward to meeting our new owners.  Mum is now going away for longer and so she says we need a permanent new home.  I'm sad but try not to show it cos mum is so sad too.  I hope someone wants to take Feebs and me soon cos mum is getting really anxious:o(

Written by Sparky and Feebie

Well, we are still here and getting more and more worried about our future.  We are on our best behaviour cos mum is sad and we dont want to make her sadder.  She is trying her best to find us a good home for a few months whilst she has to go away but it seems nobody is interested.  Not sure why cos we are adorable! Not sure what our fate will be if we dont find someone to care for us by the time mum has to move house :o(

Hope someone comes along to help us - soon!

Sad but true :o(

Hi,

I have two lovely dogs who require a short term home whilst I travel in Australia and overseas.  I will be away from July to end October.  One is an English Fox Terrier dog who just loves to play fetch and the other is a Foxy/Whippet cross who just wants  love and kindness which she will return ten fold. I would love to hear from anyone who could look after my two (or even one) gorgeous pets.  I'm desparate to find a good temp home for them.

Poor Pippy
Written by Gypsy and Bonnie
My maltese x shitzu has had to have major surgery for crutiate ligament; poor baby is very sad and also has to wear head gear to stop her from licking the wound. We still have about three weeks before she can weight bear fully. My husband and I have been trying to get someone out to the house to fix the back fence; I do not get it does no one want work these days? That is how Gypsy damaged her leg, she got into the back neighbours and their two snoutzers bailed her up and she was found in the middle of their fish pond, poor baby she hates water.

I just would like to mention how pleased i am with this website, there is so much to offer on the 'onlypets' and its great that there is something available for happy owners and there beloved pets! Gaab seems to be pretty pleased with himself for making pet of the week, all of the last ones have been fantastic tooLaughing

our pup turns 18 in a couple of weeks so i will be adding sum pics for you all to view. Other than that the rest of the tribe seem to be content, the fish are still hungry for blood worms and flakes, birds are cheerbing away, cocky still doing the model walk and im still sitting here puzzled on if jacob+totz (walking fish) are going to have bubas, still acting crazy and getting closer by the minute if ya know wat i mean!! lol

Well take care everyone and would love to hear from anyone , regard Lauren and the crew

Dog Minding...June 2008
Written by TEDDY

Dear Diary,

Im rather sad, mum listed us on the "find a dog minder" site and we met a great dog for a trial visit named Snoopy, he stayed for 2 nights, we had a blast together I loved having another mate to hang out with whilst the family is at school and work during the day. Unfortunately mum said he couldn't stay for the long minding as he barked too much during the night at the possums. (I tried to tell him just to ignore them). Anyways mum has put her name down at a couple of Foster canine places and we are waiting to hear back from them. Mum says I have to teach them how to behave so they can find people who love them just like me. I can't wait... Will update you again soon...

my new bed
Written by missymoo
hi my name is Misty, but mum calls me missymoo, or just moo. I am 7 yrs young, my old mummy didn't treat me very well, and I looked like I lived on the dump. But my new mummy and daddy took me away from there and now I live in luxury and I am spoilt like the princess I am. On the weekend mummy bought me a new bed, it's just like hers only smaller. It is soooo comfy I can't tear myself away from it, except to have a cuddle with mum, or go for a ride in the car. I love my mummy and daddy soooo much.
Sir Sam
Written by Sir Sam

Sir Sam is a beautiful ginger and white male desexed tabby cat ,as fare as I know , he is very kind natured ,quite friendly to all that visit , very loveable and needs a little-more-attention that i can give him .

Ideally i would love to see him go to a home where he can be better looked after than i`m able to, as i have a few health issues at present and i cannot take care of his needs as i would like too.

He is about three and a half years old , his birthdate is the 1/9/05 ? I think , i have his papers and all thats you need to adopt him , as i`m certain you will be impressed with his personality plus profile.

Fingers crossed that Macy is pregnant!

Louis and the mystery of the water bowl...
Written by King Louis

LOUIS THE KING

Louis, cute, cuddly and playful but today I''m going to expose the truth.

HIS BAD HABITS

meow, meow meow,  I swear thats all he ever does when he gets bored or wants attention he waltz's up to the front door and meow's like there's no tommorow then scratch, scratch, scratch at the front door.

BUT....

The most enoying habit of all is his obsession with his water bowl!

He will splash the water all over the floor flooding the kitchen and the rug, I havent takin any pictures yet but when I do the rest of the world can see my struggle with lou and his water bowl.

Cry (im not that upset im just sick of cleaning it up twice a day)

Another Regular Day
Written by Dolly

Laughing I am so excited! Today is my first ever diary entry! There's not much to write about though....just another regular day here at home. Mom, Dad, and Katie left this morning to go to work. So me and Willoughby were left to roam the house alone. Again. First we watched Frederick he fish swim around in his tank. He looked as if he was trying to convey some important message to us, but we couldn't hear him through the glass! Then we went outside, and I took a nice, long nap in the sun. After that I came in, shook the grass on the tile floor (it would be rude to Mom if I came in dirty) and watched TV! Willoughby went into his kennel and sulked with his rubber ball- I don't know why he carries it everywhere. It's just a toy- no one is going to steal it! Then I fell asleep, and didn't wake up to much later in the day. As you can see, my day was not very interesting. Sigh. I am feeling really tired lately- I am already nine years old! Willoughby is 10 1/2, and he's so grumpy that I never want to get that old! Anyways, I have to go. I sense a squirrel in the yard.

Hand rearing Cookie
Written by Cookie
Cookie was around 5/6weeks when i purchased her I asked for her this  young as i wanted to have that strong bond with her and i had hand reared many birds prior to her.

Hand rearing was a trying experience as eclectus have an especially piercing screach but she looked so adorable when she would cluck with satisfaction after a big feed.

It was a really amazing experience to watch her grow up. The excitement when she started to show colour in all the grey down and when she first stood up on the lowest perch in her cage. It was a wonderful experience.

Matilda arrives
Written by Matilda

We had no intentions of getting a third dog when Matilda came to visit. We had two Foxy crosses who were quite happy being the only dogs in control of our house. They were active and destructive enough for any household.

But, no one could resist the cute ball of fluff that was an 8 week old Matilda.

Her daddy was a Maltese, her mum was a Foxy cross Jack Russell cross and Matilda was the cutest little snoozing bundle we'd ever seen. In fact, she was a cute snoozing bundle for the next couple of months, and continues to be a cute snoozing bundle for most of her days now. Sleeping is what Matilda does best. In fact, there are only two speeds to Matilda it seems. Asleep or running amok.

Just sharing !
Written by Cisco

Hi all, I live in the Lockyer Valley Qld, I have Horse's, cats, dog's and 1 Husband somewhere? (He is in the Rural Fire Birgade).

I spend most of my time with my four footed family, believe me they give me as hard a time as normal children do.

My Animals look after me greatly as I had a major head injury near 7 years ago, and they help me and I am suprised how much they do take care, if I am out side and the phone rings (I am partly death now) My dogs start to howl, first the little ones then the bigger ones till I hear them and say OK, When I am riding my horse's and they see something that I haven't they will stop and prop pointing to what they have seen till I tell them it is ok and I have seen it and they can go on again. My Cats keep me company when I am not feeling well, my colour pt persian "2 dogs" is very protective of me and seems to be able to pick it when I am going to have a bad day.

My Husband has been there for me the hole way, through all the ups and downs.

He and my Animals are amazing. Some times we dont realise how lucky we are till something happens to make us appreciate it.

We did have a good flight and arrived at Brisbane airport about 7 pm friday 24/8/07

We did not know where we were going, but about 7.45 pm we met our new parents they looked very happy to see us and we all went into the car for our new home.

We come out of our cages in the parents bedroom. gee it was so good to stret{mosimage}{mosimage}ch our leggs and have a little smell around. We got a lot of cuddles and kisses  from everyone here, but we we are thinking of our mum Beck and dad Tyson as they were sad to see us go and mum was crying it was sad to see. We know we will be happy in our new home with dad Bill and mum Lillian we can feel that they love us too.

Well its getting late and we are all going to sleep now to rest and we'll let you know more next time.

The flying Burmes pussies
Written by Holly and Hendrix

Its friday the 24/08/07 the special day when our two new burmese babies are leaving thier lovely careing parents and flying away to Brisbane to meet their new parents and settle in their new home.

Our new parents can not wait to meet with us and take us in their arms, give us lots of cuddles and kisses.

It will be sad when we leave our present parents, but like all kids we too have grown up and time has arrived to leave our nest, but we will never forget mum Beck and dad Tyson or their unconditional love and care for us which we both thank them for. We will keep in touch and when they come for holiday to nanny and poppy in Brisbane we will try to see them too.

Hi my name is Tyesha and i use to live in a nice house at Windsor, I loved being there although i use to get into trouble barking at Posums during the night.

Anyway my owners are moving over seas so today they took me to Bray Park where a wonderful lady call Lyn and her son Shane took me in.

They have a large back yard with a fence that i can see for miles through, i think i am going to like it here they seem really really nice.

BALLS
Written by Buddy

Yellow people,

Today buddy chased balls all day driving us insane, the only thing that stops him chasing balls is food.... oh and sleeping. so we fed him and he slept... for about ten minutes then he was like PLAYYYYYYY!

he decided that he was bored with us by the end of it and started throwing the ball for himself.... grabbing it in his mouth and hurling it across the yard then running after it.

Felix the singer..
Written by Felix

I was playing some music on the computer yesterday and discovered something about Felix I never knew.

He loves music and to sing! As soon as I put any kind of music on he starts up. And you should hear all the sounds he comes out with. It's incredible!

Funny too because you should see the looks Jinx gives him when he sings. Let's just say if looks could kill..... (personally I just think she doesn't like being shown up!Laughing )

Georgie Girl
Written by Georgie Girl
She is 12.1hh pinto pony.  She is 12 years old.  We have had Georgie for 3 years but has not been a suitable pony for our 11year old daughter to ride.  She would make a great companion for another horse or pony but not suitable as a riding pony.  She has a lovely nature but has a few faults as a riding pony.  We are looking for a good home for Georgie as we have grown very attached to her but no longer have the room to keep her as we have bought other horses.  We will not give her to horse dealers or traders.  If you need someone like Georgie please contact me.
Cavalier X pups
Written by Cavalier X pups

We were very excited when our dog gave birth to 6 lovable pups, unfortunately we have to sell them. We hope to find families who would love to share the enjoyment we have had with these pups, up till now. All the pups have their own personality, and are fairly active.

Our boy has enoyed getting lots of kisses from them as they ran around chasing him.

The pups are close to 7 weeks of age. Are extremely good eaters, and generally pretty good in going outside for toilet stops.

There are two girls, and four boys.

We are asking for $150.00 per pup.

The pups mum came from a cavalier/ jack russell combination.

Please contact me if you are interested, or would like further information.

Our Story
Written by Buckley
Well it all started when my human Mum decided she wanted a hairless something, whether it be cat or dog, she chose a cat. That was the beginning.  She started with her first purchase which was Ruby, shortly after Cleopatra followed and that when it all began.  She decided she wanted to then breed them so my Cat Mum soon arrived followed by my Dad.  Mum and Dad had there first litter in November 2005 and my borthers and sisters went to various homes you have already been introduced to one of my older sisters Tiger Lily.  Then without my Human Mum knowing my Mum and Dad decided they wanted more babies, that's when I was born with my brothers.  We all live in Little River and cause lots of trouble.
My Day
Written by Wynta

Hi my name is Wynta. Im a 9 month old Alaskan Malamute, I live in Sydney with my Mum and Dad Shalina and Sharian. I'm an only child unless you count the miniture dogs that hiss at me all the time and run away. Mum and Dad keep telling me "No leave the cats alone" but I dont know what cats are and the little dogs are so fun to play with. They even run around with me and we play chasies.

Today we went for a walk and it was heaps of fun. I got let of my lead in the park and I found this long grass that was growing in some water and I rolled all through it. It was the best of fun but my Mum and Dad just looked at me and shook their heads. Even after I was nice enough to give them a shower as well, I guess they just dont understand how fun it can be to get really good and dirty.

When it was time to go home Daddy ran with me but not very far cause his knee is bad. Then something horrible happened when I got home... the most horrible thing in the world.

 They gave me a bath....

I hate being bathed its the worst in the world. Alll my fur sticks to me and I dont feel warm any more and I smell funny. I always do my absolute best to get away and out of the tub but no matter what Dad always keeps me there. I dont know why I needed one I was only a little black from playing in the long grass with the water.

But then Dad played fetch with me and I had to forgive him after all he's my favorite. I love my Mum but my Dad is everything to me. I was so tired after playing fetch with my ball and then a big branch that dad later chopped off a tree out the back that I curled up and went to sleep.

Today was a big day and tomorrow will hopefully be the same only without the yukky bath

Ok, Im new here and have no idea how to use anything!

My name is Belinda, I am 22 years old, and I have... errr... i dont know quite how many pets

here with me at the moment is my green cheeked conure- Inca, my 3 rats- Miss Chief, May Hem, and MaJiK, my mini lop bunny- Benjamin , I also have a few rescue guinea pigs that need new homes asap as I am hopefully moving soon- but dont know if ill have a backyard to house them in! There are a mother daughter pair of shelties- mum is pew- daughter is a gorgeous tri- and mum just gave birth to 3 little babies yesterday- all tris- looks like 2 males and one female! So I have to figure out how to get this classified thingy working to post some pics and hopefully someone in Vic will want to adopt them!

or just one... I dont mind.

I have also been helping out the local pet store with their rat breeding- cleaning cages- feeding treats- and taking the baby rats home to socialise them so their chances of finding nice homes are greatly improved- ive even been taking them down to melbourne to find new homes- which has been really sucessful so far.

Just took back my 3rd lot the other day- and surprise, surprise there is one I just cant refuse... so now im in the market for a good quality, large rat or ferret mansion.

Oh yeah and I have another 2 rats in Melbourne- My friend gave them to me... and i had to give them back cos my cage just isnt big enough- but as soon as I have the right sized cage I will be getting Serena and Tsar back- and wont I have just the happiest mischief?

I do have a dog- but she lives with my parents- 'Molly' a 9 year old lab X border collie who is my life and where I live my housemate has a little thing- not sure what she is- maybe mini pinscherX 'nuppa'

until next time!

Felix learns another new trick!
Written by Felix

I was sitting in the loungeroom the other day when I heard the strangest noise. barking! Normally that wouldn't be strange as w e do own 2 dogs but I knew that they were both sunbaking and asleep. I walked down the other end of the house, guess who it was, Felix!

So now I don't have 2 watch dogs. I have 2 watch dogs and a watch parrot! It was hilarious to hearing him barking. He sounds exactly like a dog. (Mind you Eclectus parrots are in the top 3 of talking parrot species, so go figure!)

The beginning
Written by Arnie, Missi, Simba

I am a new member and I can see I have a lot of work to do to catch up with all the beautiful profiles I can see, I won't be able to get right into it until about June because we are going away quite a bit between now and and June, but I will get as much done as I can after getting familiar with this programme.

I actually had 4 dogs but unfortunately one got killed by the Jack Russell next door, I was devistated!!!!!  as you can imagined and still have a lot of trouble dealing with it.

I will profile her as well as the other 3 dogs I have, hence that is why I called my log in Sasha, that was her name.

Well I need to get back to work now until next time by by.

Felix learns a new trick
Written by Felix

I was surfing the web the other day (Felix's cage is in my computer room)  and Felix decided that I hadn't been paying him enough attention so he started to do loop the loops around his perch so I would look at him. It was hilarious! I have never seen him do it before. It makes you wonder what he will do next. Take a look in my pet gallery to see him in action!

Felix speaks!

My cheeky bird has "apparently" been saying hello, and good boy to my fiance but would never talk to me (go figure, I'm the one who looks after him)

I would always get heaps of "parrot talk" but he would never say hello or anything. Tonight I go home form a long day at work and my little darling said hello when I walked in the door!

What a great end to the day!Cool Laughing

Felix goes visiting!
Written by Felix

The whole family went visiting today (yes, Felix included) and I am proud say he behaved like a perfect gentleman! I was shocked. I mean he is usually well behaved but today he was perfect!

Anyway we actually went out to the guy we bought Felix off so that we could put a deposit on the eclectus girl who is going to be his cage-mate.  The guy was thrilled to bits with how good Felix is looking, so I must be doing something right!Laughing

Felix and I went to the avairy where the female is.  I called her and she came up to me straight away! How cool is that! She seems to be even more friendly than Felix was before we got him. I can't wait until we pay her off and bring her home. Then the fun begins!

Our story
Written by tigerlilly

I never knew I could love a pet as much as I love this cat. I have a greyhound and work with dogs and horses every day but this bloody cat has captured my heart.

So the day I went to take my son to work and heard feint cries and looked under my car and saw my hairless wonder, laying in her own urine, I nearly died. She snuck out the night before, when I walked visitors to their car.

I took her to work with me and got one of the vets to check her out, 5 puncher holes on her rump, another cat had attacked her and she was in so much pain, I was heart broken. She spent the night in hospital but the next day, she was back to her beautiful self.

She still tries to sneak out the door, but there is no way she is going unless it is on her harness.

Tigerlilly and I thank you for reading our story and I hope to have more pictures on soon. bye and meow for now xxx

The things pets do.....
Written by Felix

I was cleaning Felix's cage today, so I put him on his stand so he wouldn't get in the way. I left him there while I went out to the bin, thinking he would be ok and he would stay put.

I walked back in the room and guess what! He wasn't on his stand!

The cheeky devil decided he wanted to go have a look at my fish tanks (which are up on a rather tall stand). He had climbed all the way up the stand so he could get to the post-it notes I had stuck on the side of the tanks.

The look on his face was hiliarious! He was just sitting there looking at me sheepishly with a post-it note in his beak!  (have a look in my pet gallery to see a picture of him caught in the act!) Laughing

He is just full of surprises..lol

Bridget is a 13 weeks old  Jack Russell puppy and she is a very loving puppy who enjoys being around people.  Bridget can sit, lay down, and has just been taught the word up.  Bridget also has been house trained she is a very smart puppy for her age and learns very quickly.  Sad to say I have to sale bridget because I am moving back to USA and can not take her with me which breaks my heart.  Bridget has has papers that come along with her and she will someday make a good parent if she is used for breeding purposes.  I am asking 300.00 dollars for Bridget or best offer I am willing to go down on my price as long as I know she will be taken care of with a loving family.

Operation Stop Bark:Week 2
Written by Lulu

Week 2

Strategies
  1. Change Walk time from Morning to Afternoon
  2. Continue using Command "Enough" and rewarding with Food.
Mitigating Factors
  • Neighbourhood dogs barking
Outcome
  • Not barking to wake us up at the crack of dawn
  • Stops barking on command "Enough" momentarily then continues Barking
Beginnings
Written by oscar

Hi My name is Oscar. I am coming on 9 years old this year  weigh 8 kilos and look like a minature Kelpie.I am a cross breed but nobody is quite sure exactly what I am.  When I was a puppy I was sent to the RSPCA as I looked like a Rottweiler.

Operation Stop Bark: Week 1
Written by Lulu
Strategies
  1. Started using command "Enough!" & rewarding with food treats when barking stops after reading article on "General principles for controlling undesirable barking"  (http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1551&articleid=153)
  2. Banished dog from couch to re-inforce pecking order
Mitigating Factors
  • Rearranged house to clear out & paint nursery.
Outcome
  • Barking seems more in control but still a lot of room for improvement.
A Happy Dog in a Happy Home
Written by Lulu

After a few peaceful nights and extended sleeps in the morning Lulu appears to be cured of her bad behaviour.  Well actually she has been very well behaved of late but from past experiences that may not last, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt for now.

Lulu did not wake me up this morning to go for a walk so as a treat I decided to take her for a long one. We saw a lot of walkers on the track (obviously everybody walking off their Xmas feasting ) and Lulu was well behaved when we approached everyone of them, including dog walkers.  I use basic commands such as here (similar to heal) and wait when we are confronted by a road.  I am very pleased that she is slowly getting better at responding to my commands.

Finally I just have to say that although routine may be good for dogs it must be the right routine as I think Lulu may have been barking to wake me up to simply go for a walk. Oh how she loves to walk.

New Years Resolution
Written by Lulu

Well Lulu has recently returned from a little R&R with Grandma over the Christmas break and hasn't suddenly become the world best behaved dog, well not yet anyway.

This New Years Resolution is to get Lulu to bark less and when she does not for too long . Hopefully this is one New Years Resolution that we can keep.
