Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the self serve area of Only Pets.net where we will hope to answer all of your Frequently Asked Questions. If you can’t find what you are looking for on this page, please contact us via email or maybe try to post a question in the forums.

What pets can I register on Only Pets.net?

Ants, Birds, Cats, Dogs, Ducks, Fish, Frogs, Goats, Guinea Pigs, Hermit Crabs, Horses, Llamas, Mice, Ponies, Rabbits, Snakes and Tadpoles are all welcome, in fact you can register any animal that you love like a pet and no we won’t be surprised if a prize winning bull suddenly appears on the site. At Only Pets.net we want to include all types of pets in this community and not just the ones we cherish ourselves.

Why did I get an image file too large error after upload?

Modern digital cameras can produce images that are 5MB or greater depending on the quality of the image taken. Although the better resolution means better photo printing, the same cannot be said for the internet. We restrict the image size that we allow on Onlypets.net so that images do not take forever to upload. Typically you should aim to load photos that are approx 300KB in size although we will allow 1MB pictures this may take a little while.

My photo images are too large, what can I do?

The most simplest way to reduce the size of an image is to open it using Microsoft Paint and then to click File ->Save As and to save in a JPEG format (Tip: just add the letter c after the file name so you know this file has been compress and will prevent you from accidentally going to the photo developers with the wrong image.). By re-saving the photo images you will compress it further and the file size should be acceptable for this site.

Of course there are a number of other Photo Editing tools available but Microsoft Paint is usually installed on every Windows Operating System. Just use what you are comfortable with.

How do update my pet profile image?

After you have logged into your profile click on the "My Profile" button found beneath the main banner. This will take you to your pets’s profile page. Just above the image that appears you will see an EDIT button and when you hover over it you will see and "Update Your Image" option. Click this button and upload your photo image of your favourite pet.

How do I write a diary entry for my pet?

After you successfully login into your pet profile a USER MENU will appear on the left hand side of the screen (you may need to scroll down to see it). Click on the button labeled "Write a Diary Entry" and type in the text box provided. You can use the formatting buttons provided to make that diary entry a little more special (simply hover over a button to identify what it does). Finally, when you click the save button the diary entry will be published, if you don’t get to finish it you can, using the drop down box, set it as unpublished and resume writing a little later. But don’t forget to set it to published when you are done.
